Exhibitions Assistant – National Gallery, London, UK

Permanent, full-time (35 hours per week)
Salary: £30,088 gross per annum

The Exhibitions Assistant supports the organization and delivery of complex exhibition projects within the National Gallery’s exhibition program. This includes assisting with project and loan management from start to de-installation, managing administrative and financial tasks, maintaining collection records, and assisting with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibition Management: Assist in delivering multiple exhibition projects on time, within budget, and to standard. Tasks include coordinating insurance, preparing documentation, communicating with stakeholders, and overseeing artwork delivery and installation.
  • Collections Database: Maintain exhibition records, loan lists, and generate reports.
  • Finance: Process invoices, manage budgets, and prepare purchase orders.
  • Administration: Organize meetings, take minutes, maintain files, and support office administration.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Manage relationships with internal teams (e.g., curatorial, art handling) and external stakeholders (e.g., partner institutions, transport agents).

Key Qualifications

  • A good standard of education (A level or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar administrative or exhibitions role in a busy environment.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
