Exhibitions Assistant

The Department of Exhibitions is looking to recruit an Assistant to provide administrative support in relation to the successful delivery of the Museum’s programme of exhibitions and displays. It will involve working with teams providing support for selected exhibition projects and providing day to day administration of the Department’s finances.

Key areas of responsibility:

• To provide general support functions to the Department and to exhibition project teams, as required. This includes producing agendas; minute taking; creating and maintaining project documentation and databases; presenting information and undertaking research tasks.

• To act as liaison with exhibition stakeholders and suppliers on behalf of the Department. This includes on-site support in the installation and dismantling of exhibitions.

• To provide financial support for the Department, in conjunction with the Senior Administrator. This includes raising requisitions, processing invoices, liaising with suppliers, compiling and presenting financial information, attending financial meetings and liaising with the Museum’s Finance team on a day to day basis.

• To assist in dealing with internal and external enquiries to the Department.

• To assist in maintaining departmental records, files and archives.

Person Specification:

With proven administration and organisational skills, you will have previous experience of working in a support or administrative role, preferably in a Museum environment. You will have the ability to prioritise your own workload and manage multiple deadlines in a changing environment. This will involve a flexible approach to changing priorities and requirements. You will also be able to work effectively as a team member and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
