Art Museum RIGA BOURSE holds the largest collection of international art in the Baltic region. The collection was established by Riga city councillors, merchants and mayors in the 19th century.
The museum regularly organises international art exhibitions and a wide range of artistic and cultural events. It also delivers an extensive educational programme, offering guided tours, specialist learning activities, concerts and creative workshops.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and manage art exhibition projects, including international exhibitions;
- Conduct research on approved topics;
- Develop fundraising proposals for exhibitions;
- Work with specialists from the Education and Accessibility Department to develop guided-tour narratives and educational and events programmes for exhibitions; and
- Where required, lead guided tours and other exhibition-related events.
Requirements
- A higher academic qualification in the humanities;
- Strong knowledge of global art history and awareness of developments in contemporary art;
- An understanding of and interest in current developments within the museum sector, including internationally;
- Demonstrable professional experience in curating exhibitions and delivering art projects;
- The ability to plan and organise work accurately;
- Strong communication skills;
- Excellent Latvian and good English-language skills, as well as excellent writing skills, for communicating with international visitors and partners and working with texts in foreign languages; and
- Computer literacy and the ability to use the software required to perform the role.
