Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 AUD + 12% superannuation

TarraWarra Museum of Art is seeking an Exhibitions Manager to oversee the delivery of exhibitions and collection displays. The role is responsible for managing exhibition production from inception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to professional museum standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and presentation of exhibitions and collection displays
- Manage exhibition schedules, budgets and logistics
- Prepare loan agreements and artist contracts
- Coordinate exhibition planning, programming and timelines
- Oversee installation and deinstallation processes
- Ensure safe and sustainable exhibition environments (OHSE compliance)
- Manage exhibition documentation and resources
- Coordinate touring exhibitions and institutional partnerships
- Liaise with artists, curators, registrars and external stakeholders
- Manage technical teams (designers, AV, installers, contractors)
- Maintain exhibition spaces during display periods
- Support preview events and exhibition openings
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations
Key Selection Criteria
Qualifications
- Relevant qualification or minimum 5 years’ experience managing exhibitions
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience managing exhibitions in a museum/gallery context
- Experience working with contemporary artists and commissions
- Knowledge of post-1950 and contemporary visual art
- Experience in installation, object handling, exhibition design, lighting and AV
- Knowledge of exhibition production processes, budgets and timelines
Capabilities
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Cultural awareness, including working with First Nations communities
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Problem-solving ability in complex situations
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Excel and SharePoint
- EWP License or willingness to obtain
