About the Fellowship

The Museums of Treptow-Köpenick in Berlin invite applications for a Curatorial Fellowship, a two-year, practice-oriented training program designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of museum and archival work. The fellowship prepares candidates for future roles in regional history museums or similar cultural institutions, offering in-depth engagement with exhibition development, research, and public programming across multiple sites, including:

  • Museum Treptow
  • Museum Köpenick
  • Köpenicker Blood Week Memorial
  • Exhibition on the Hauptmann von Köpenick

Responsibilities

  • Assist in curatorial research, exhibition planning, and educational programs.
  • Gain experience in museum collections management, conservation, and archival work.
  • Contribute to projects related to historical remembrance and cultural heritage.
  • Participate in all aspects of museum operations, including outreach initiatives.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree (obtained within the last five years) in one of the following fields:
    • Modern History
    • Contemporary History
    • Art History
    • Cultural Studies
    • Public History
  • Practical experience in a historical museum, including curatorial or exhibition-related work.
  • Excellent written and spoken German.
  • Good command of English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous publications or independent research related to historical topics.
