Salary: 50% of Entgeltgruppe 13 TVöD/VKA (Stufe 1 in the first year, Stufe 2 in the second year)

About the Institution

Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung holds the world’s largest collection dedicated to Bauhaus (1919–1933), one of the most influential schools of architecture, design, and art of the 20th century. The museum is currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion, with a new building designed by Staab Architekten set to open in 2027. During this period, the institution continues its activities through the temporary bauhaus-archiv project space, as well as research, digital initiatives, and collection work across multiple locations.

About the Fellowship

This two-year fellowship offers practical museum training focused on Collections & Programming. The fellow will gain experience across key museum functions, including curatorial research, digital initiatives, exhibition development, and collection management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and documentation of collections (Furniture, Textiles, Graphic Design, and Documents)
  • Curatorial contributions to digital projects, including the Digital Collection, Bauhaus Stories, and eCulture programs
  • Curatorial support for the reinstallation of the permanent collection in the new building
  • Content creation, editorial work, and research for exhibitions and publications
  • Project management assistance
  • Image research and copyright clearance

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Art History, Cultural Studies, or a related field
  • Strong interest in Bauhaus and willingness to develop expertise
  • Knowledge of art, design, and applied arts history
  • Interest in digital cultural heritage and familiarity with digital data management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
  • Strong teamwork, initiative, and organizational skills
