The Klassik Stiftung Weimar awards fellowships to support exceptional scholarly, essayistic, and artistic projects through three distinct formats. All fellowships include a residency period in the culturally rich city of Weimar. Applicants should select the funding line that best matches their project’s focus.
Fellowship Format
- Residency-based grants in Weimar
- Three distinct tracks: Bauhaus, Nietzsche, and Weimar Fellowships
- Duration: Several months (typically 2–3 months depending on track)
- Fellowship includes accommodation and access to relevant archives and institutions
Eligibility Criteria
Bauhaus Fellowships
- Artists and cultural practitioners
- Projects with a direct or broad connection to Weimar or contemporary issues
- Public presentation of results required (exhibition, performance, intervention, etc.)
Nietzsche Fellowships
- Open to philosophers, scholars, and essayists
- Two-month residency for independent research or writing
- Connection to Nietzsche’s thought beneficial but not mandatory
Weimar Fellowships
- Graduates, postdoctoral, or habilitated researchers
- Projects exploring European cultural history from the Early Modern period to the present
- Must use the collections of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar (e.g., Goethe and Schiller Archive, Duchess Anna Amalia Library)
