Fellowships – Käte Hamburger Research Centre global dis:connect, LMU Munich

The Käte Hamburger Research Centre “Dis:connectivity in processes of globalisation” (global dis:connect) invites applications for 6–12 month fellowships during the 2026/27 academic year. The centre explores the interdependent dynamics of connectivity and disconnectivity in globalisation through international and transdisciplinary research, with a focus on history, theatre studies, and art history.
Fellowship Format
- Duration: 6 to 12 months (starting on 1 September or 1 October 2026)
- Research-only fellowship (no teaching/administrative duties)
- Residence in Munich required
- Workspace at the centre provided
- Funding: individually calculated stipend or teaching buy-out; travel costs reimbursed (economy fare)
- Active participation in colloquia, reading groups, and public programming
- Opportunity to co-organize international workshops or events with partner institutions
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to postdoctoral and senior scholars with a strong research record
- Fields: humanities and social sciences, especially history, art history, theatre studies
- Project must address at least one of the centre’s research themes:
- Forms of dis:connectivity (interruptions, detours, absences)
- Laboratories of dis:connectivity (borders, islands, camps)
- Cultural infrastructures in globalisation
- Temporal dis:connectivities in global processes
- Interdisciplinary and international perspectives are encouraged
