Museo Reina Sofía Fellowships for Editorial Projects and Transversal Research Projects (2026)

Two fellowships are offered for 2026:

Training in Editorial Projects (Área de Actividades Editoriales)

Training in Transversal Research Projects (Dirección de Estudios)
Both fellowships last 12 months and take place at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. Fellows work under the guidance of an assigned tutor. These fellowships do not create an employment relationship.
Fellowship Format
- Number of positions: 2 (one per area)
- Duration: 12 months
- Schedule: Minimum of 7 hours/day, Monday to Friday
- Stipend: 20,000 € per fellowship, paid monthly
- Social Security: Included under the terms of Real Decreto 1493/2011
- Mode: On-site at the museum in Madrid
- Tutor: A staff member responsible for monitoring the fellow’s training process
- No contractual employment relationship is established
Eligibility Criteria
General Requirements (for both fellowships)
- Required academic degree completed by the application deadline (fields depend on each fellowship; see below).
- Academic transcripts must show a minimum average of 8 / 2.50, according to the issuing university’s scale.
- Foreign degrees must be officially homologated by the Spanish Ministry of Education by the application deadline.
- Non-native Spanish speakers must prove C1-level Spanish or equivalent.
- Foreign applicants must have legal residency in Spain.
- Applicants may not have received three previous fellowships from the museum nor worked for the museum for more than six months within the past three years.
- May apply to only one of the two fellowship types.
- Must not be affected by prohibitions in Article 13 of the General Subsidies Law.
Specific Requirements
1) Fellowship in Editorial Projects
- Degree in: Art History, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Humanities, Philology, Translation & Interpretation, Language & Literature, or Linguistics.
- Degree completed in 2012 or later.
- English level B2.
- Motivational statement (max. 2 pages, double-spaced).
2) Fellowship in Transversal Research Projects (Dirección de Estudios)
- Degree in: Art History, Fine Arts, History, Humanities, Cultural Management, or other Humanities-related fields.
- Degree completed in 2010 or later.
- English level B2.
- Motivational statement (max. 2 pages, double-spaced).
