Public Programme Commitment
Artists must fully utilize the space and organize public-facing events. These could include workshops, talks, performances, or other activities that support creative practices. Priority will be given to applications that focus on engaging local communities in Newham.
Operating Hours
The space must be open from 12 PM to 6 PM, Thursday to Sunday. Applicants must manage this schedule within their collective.
About Sugar House Island
Sugar House Island spans 26 acres in East London, historically a hub for distilleries and warehouses, now transformed into a vibrant community of homes, businesses, and creative spaces.
Application Process
Applications are open to all creative practitioners. The selection process is straightforward, requiring answers limited to 100 words. Each application period lasts about 3/4 weeks. A shortlist triple the number of opportunities is made for panel selection. This panel includes trustees and a local cultural partner. Focus areas include intended use of space, developmental impact on practice, and planned public events.
