Job Summary
Arts Council England seeks freelancers to join a network of access support workers.
Job Description
The council aims to make services and funding applications accessible to everyone. Support is available for applicants facing barriers in accessing services and information. This includes funding for a support worker to help with accessing information or making a funding application.
Support is targeted towards Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent individuals, and those experiencing poor health.
The network, initiated in early 2023, links applicants without a support worker to tailored assistance. Support workers help applicants with access needs overcome barriers.
Tasks may include:
- British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation
- Assistance for applicants using incompatible screen readers with Grantium
- Help with processing application questions and forms
- Note-taking and interpreting ideas
- Submitting applications on Grantium and guiding applicants through it
- Signposting to other resources
Support workers help applicants with project ideas needing assistance in application submission. Developing projects or strengthening applications is not part of access support.
Work can be remote or in-person, based on the applicant’s preference, and depends on the support worker’s location and availability. Candidates from all over England are encouraged to apply.
This is a freelance role, not a direct employment with Arts Council England. The day rate is £250 (inclusive of VAT).
