Job Title: Freelance Programme Producer
Pay & Terms: Part Time Fixed Term Freelance contract 10 months, Sept 2023 to May 2024 Total fee £14,440 for fixed term (£1,440 per month, equivalent to £25,000 per annum, pro rata)
Hours: 12 days per month, delivered as much as possible between Wed – Sat (our opening hours). We are a small team and will try to be as flexible with working patterns as possible. Some of the work will involve evenings and Saturdays.
Location: Based at 19 Minerva Works, Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RT, but required to work at different locations in which our programme occurs.
Responsible to: Gallery Programme Director
Start Date: 1st week of September 2023. We can be flexible on start dates and working patterns for the first month.

The Programme Producer’s roles and responsibilities will include:
Programme
Working across our Gallery & Collaborative Programme, both in gallery and community settings, you will:
- Oversee and manage production and delivery of all aspects of our programme, including exhibitions, collaborative and offsite programmes, events and workshops. This includes project management, supporting and liaising with artists and facilitators, budget management, sourcing equipment, supporting design and fabrication, organising transportation and hosting partners.
- Support organisation and delivery of our community programmes that work with a wide range of people from different communities, in a wide range of settings, including workshops and public events offsite. This includes organising and supporting delivery of weekly sessions for our community groups. Some of these groups are of marginalised backgrounds who have high support needs.
- Support the Programme Team with reflective practice evaluation, including reporting, archiving and data collection.
Communications
- A clear communicator who is good at facilitation and collaborating. The work will involve being curious, keen & conscientious, being responsive to working with individuals and organisations from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of Grand Union’s marketing and write copy for a range of marketing materials.
- Work with Grand Union’s team to deliver our digital marketing, including social media copywriting and upkeep of our website.
- Develop exhibition and project interpretation with the Programming Team.
Operations
- Oversee events and front of house activities (including work offsite), supporting the team with hosting responsibilities, tours of exhibitions, and studios.
- Support completion of Risk Assessments for workshops, public events, and exhibitions.
- Support the Programme Assistant with recruitment and coordination of volunteers.
