Apply to the Fresh Voices Fellowship by September 15th, 11 PM
The 2024 Fresh Voices Fellowship is currently accepting submissions. This fellowship aims to support emerging writers of color from diverse backgrounds, including Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, and others. Applicants should not hold a BA or MFA in creative writing and must not be enrolled in a degree-granting program at the time of application. The submission period concludes on September 15th at 11 PM.
Fellowship Benefits: Empowering Emerging Writers
The chosen fellow will be granted:
- A $2000 stipend
- Publication in a print issue of Epiphany
- A one-year subscription to Epiphany
- Active participation in the editorial and publication process of a non-profit literary magazine
- A chance to establish strong connections with the editorial team throughout the twelve-month fellowship
- Feature in a Q&A on Epiphany’s website
Eligibility Criteria
This fellowship is designed to support writers who operate outside traditional literary and academic circles. Applicants must not possess a creative writing degree or be currently enrolled in any degree-granting program. Additionally, they should have published no more than four individual artistic works in print and should not have a published or contracted book, including chapbooks.
Application Process
To apply, follow these steps:
- Work Sample: Provide a 5-page sample (double-spaced) of the work that best reflects your style and interests. If submitting a novel excerpt, include a brief synopsis and indicate where the excerpt fits within the story.
- Questions: The application form will prompt you to answer three questions (with an optional fourth) to help us understand you better. Here’s a preview of the questions:
- Describe an artist or work of art that has profoundly influenced you. (150 words max)
- Share your writing journey, including your writing experience, practice, and sense of writing community. (250 words max)
- Identify an aspect of your writing goals where mentorship could provide valuable assistance. (100 words max)
- (Optional) Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you? (100 words max)
