
Full-time Research Assistant
Hong Kong Shue Yan University is the first PRIVATE university in Hong Kong. It has a student body of around 4,000 and a diversity of international academic staff. The university is located on the top of Braemar Hill overlooking the beautiful Victoria Harbour. It aims to enable students to cultivate a whole, balanced personality and realize their full potential as individuals, as scholars and as good citizens.
The candidate should have
i.) a university degree;
ii.) a background in anthropology, sociology, history, geography, cultural heritage, or museum studies;
iii.) knowledge of cultural heritage/oral history; competence in written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese) and English;
iv.) preferably some skills in social media and website design; and an interest in virtual museums.
The appointee will assist in implementing a project entitled “Three Chaozhou Hungry Ghosts Festival: Research and Promotion” which is funded by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office of the Hong Kong Government.
Duties
- Conducting interviews, fieldwork and observation on Chaozhou Hungry Ghosts Festivals in Hong Kong;
- Conducting literature and archival research;
- Drafting reports;
- Coordinating with different parties involved in the project;
- Event planning.
