1646 – ReCNTR Residency, The Netherlands
Location: The Hague, The Netherlands
Stipend: €2,000 artist fee (including VAT)
Contract: 2-month residency (September – October 2025)

1646, in collaboration with ReCNTR, invites international artists and researchers to apply for a fully funded residency in The Hague. This program supports individuals exploring social and political issues through artistic and multimodal methods, emphasizing “thinking through making” as a form of knowledge production. Applicants should have experience presenting their work in both artistic and academic contexts.
Responsibilities:
- Engage in experimental research and practice during the residency.
- Participate in a public event to share insights and ideas developed during the residency.
- Conduct a guest lecture or workshop at Leiden University, format to be determined collaboratively.
Support Provided:
- €2,000 artist fee (including VAT).
- €1,000 production budget (including VAT).
- Studio space (5 x 3 meters) within the 1646 building, access to technical equipment and tools, workshop facilities at the Royal Art Academy (KABK), and Leiden University’s facilities.
- Accommodation in The Hague.
- Travel expenses covered up to €500.
- Support from ReCNTR and 1646 teams through scheduled studio visits and discussions.
