John Hansard Gallery is seeking a Future Curator to join its Programme team as part of the Future Curators Programme, a residency initiative for Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent curators. Founded and led by DASH, the programme is designed to provide hands-on curatorial experience within major cultural organisations across England.
The selected curator will collaborate closely with exhibition and engagement departments, as well as university partners, to develop and deliver contemporary visual arts programmes. This opportunity aims to support an emerging curator in building professional skills and networks in a real-world gallery context, with strong institutional mentorship and peer collaboration.
Requirements
- Open to emerging Disabled, Deaf, and neurodivergent curators
- Interest in contemporary visual arts and curatorial practice
- Willingness to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and institutional partners
- Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and diversity in the arts
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the gallery’s contemporary visual arts programme
- Work collaboratively with the Programme, Exhibitions, and Engagement teams
- Participate in cross-institutional projects with partner organisations
- Engage with the public and support inclusive curatorial initiatives
- Develop skills and confidence through hands-on experience in a gallery environment
