Initially a remote role, with access to meeting rooms in London, and fully funded travel to the UAE and Africa as required
Salary

Background
Africa Prime Initiative will open a six-month pop-up gallery in the UAE commencing in September 2024 to provide opportunities for contemporary African visual artists to reach a wider international audience. The pop-up will serve as a proof of concept for a permanent gallery.
Role
In the six months leading up to opening the gallery’s operation, a Consultant is required to lead on key work streams including:
- Helping to establish targets and success metrics for the pop-up
- Identifying and engaging a curator and other gallery staff
- Liaising with partner galleries, artists, and dealers to secure artworks
- Co-ordinating physical gallery design and fit-out
- Establishing operational procedures
- Designing and convening events to take place during pop-up
- Inputting to marketing strategy
- Engaging with the founder, funders, and other key stakeholders
There is the possibility for the Consultant that takes on this role to transition into the role of curator for the period of the pop-up depending on the candidate.
The candidate will work alongside a highly regarded London-based international PR agency, and be able to draw on a team to support as required.
Experience
The successful candidate will have good experience of gallery operations and business planning; exhibition and event organisation; a strong interest in contemporary African art; and exemplary interpersonal qualities.
