We are a small, highly collaborative team, and work closely with artists to realise ambitious projects both within and outside of the gallery. We aim to carry out our duties to the highest possible standards, for the benefit of our artists, visitors, and one another.

The gallery’s longstanding primary commitment is towards providing a generative space for emerging and established artists to develop their practice and present with ambition, within the gallery and expanded environments. The foundational objective of establishing trust with artists and audiences is underpinned by programming with care, an established capacity for risk, consistent rigour and humanism.

Responsibilities include:

  • General front-of-house duties: greeting visitors, providing relevant information; answering calls and emails.
  • Production and upkeep of PDF documents including artist and exhibition overviews and sales offers.
  • Management of imagery: organisation of exhibition photography; filing of images.
  • Maintenance of artwork and contact database.
  • Updating website with news, exhibitions and fairs; maintenance of artist pages, imagery and CVs.
  • Assisting Director in managing the calendar, and particularly in the planning of exhibition timelines with regards to production, transportation, de/installation, press reach-out and listings across relevant platforms.
  • Assisting Director in research and writing of press and exhibition texts, artist biographies, and applications.
  • Liaison with artists (to expand/develop over time) in response to their needs, including practical and production support, exhibition planning, timelines, etc.
  • Facilitation and management of delivery and movement of artworks; organising and overseeing shipments.
  • Coordination of openings and special events.
  • General upkeep of the space: maintaining a tidy environment, office supplies, assisting in the handling of artworks where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a similar role or an environment with transferable skills.
  • Proven capacity to manage logistical and administrative responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, as well as Apple programmes including Pages and Numbers.
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and its contexts; interest in working closely with artists.
  • Excellent communication skills, on paper and in person; detail-oriented and clear.
  • Reliability, diligence, and ability to maintain calm and focus in high pressure situations.
  • Excellent time management skills, efficiency and adaptability in the face of deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently where required and as part of a close-knit and highly collaborative team; willingness to learn and listen.

Preferable:

  • Proficiency in use of database programmes (ArtLogic).
  • Proficiency in use of Mailchimp.
  • Experience handling, packing and occasionally installing delicate artworks.
