Kiang Malingue, established in Hong Kong in 2010, fosters a critical dialogue between Asian and international contemporary artists. The gallery supports artists across various disciplines, including video, installation, painting, and sound.
Job Description
Kiang Malingue is seeking a proactive and organised individual for the role of Gallery Assistant. The selected candidate will support a wide range of tasks. These include daily operations, archiving, art handling, and exhibition management.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily operations and general administrative tasks.
- Coordinate activities with the registrar and gallery manager.
- Manage archival records by photographing and updating inventory.
- Handle in-house property movements efficiently, including packing, installation, and de-installation.
- Support logistics for condition checks and the movement of artworks.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in contemporary art, fine art handling, or warehouse operations. Experience in a gallery setting is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Desirable Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and SketchUp.
- Experience with AV equipment and digital technologies is beneficial.
- Capability to handle physical tasks, including material handling and heavy lifting.
Additional Information
The gallery operates two spaces located in Aberdeen and Wan Chai, Hong Kong. Candidates may need to transfer occasionally between these two locations. Working hours are from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Immediate availability is preferred.
