Lake Country Art Gallery

Location: Lake Country, British Columbia, Canada
Contract: Part-time (approx. 80 hours/month; 960 hours/year)
Salary: $26,400 CAD annually; additional hours for special projects paid hourly by agreement
The Lake Country Art Gallery seeks a part-time Curator responsible for planning and implementing exhibitions, working closely with the Executive Director. The gallery hosts around eight exhibitions yearly, showcasing a diverse range of local to national artists, with a mandate to engage and enrich the community through inclusive, contemporary programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop exhibition plans, originate concepts, and respond to exhibition opportunities.
- Manage Calls for Artists and communications with artists.
- Schedule exhibition timelines, including openings and deliveries, in consultation with the Executive Director.
- Provide annual and detailed exhibition plans to the Board.
- Prepare promotional materials and collaborate on marketing efforts.
- Organize artist talks and public events linked to exhibitions.
- Lead the Gallery Preparation and Installation Committees, ensuring proper handling and installation of artworks.
- Oversee creation of exhibition interpretative materials (labels, brochures, catalogues).
- Coordinate opening receptions with the Friends of the Gallery Committee.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Fine Arts, Curatorial, Museum Studies, or related field.
- Strong writing, computer literacy, and interpersonal skills.
- Curatorial experience in visual arts preferred.
- Familiarity with website platforms (Weebly, WordPress) and community or non-profit arts experience considered assets.
