The National Gallery is seeking a highly creative Gallery Educator to join its Learning Department. This full-time role is aimed at a practising artist with the ability to lead engaging sessions using drawing, painting, and printmaking. Working primarily with schools—including special schools—the postholder will design and deliver sessions inspired by works in the National Gallery Collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead talks, tours, workshops, and participatory activities for schools, families, and adults
  • Deliver sessions both onsite (galleries and Roden Centre) and online
  • Develop supplementary educational resources for EYFS, primary, and secondary pupils
  • Teach in accessible and inclusive ways for children and young people with disabilities

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree in Art and Design (or similar) and education qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in arts education within museums, galleries, or educational settings
  • Strong knowledge of Western European painting and passion for engaging audiences
  • Desirable: experience producing educational content for online platforms
