The National Gallery is looking to appoint a part-time Gallery Educator to help deliver its Learning Strategy. The strategy has been developed to support the National Gallery’s aspiration to share the collection with the widest possible audience. It creates a new vision of outreach, online and onsite learning which will enable the National Gallery to achieve 3 key ambitions:
- Create a National Learning Service, working in partnership with children and young people across the UK to inspire positive change through art and culture, for themselves and others
- Create lifelong learning opportunities for adults
- Develop an audience that truly reflects the diversity of the UK population
The successful candidate will join a team of full-time and part-time Gallery Educators and will plan and deliver a programme of work in line with the National Gallery’s Learning Strategy. They will contribute to teaching the onsite, online and outreach programme of talks, tours, workshops and participatory activities for schools, families, young people, and adults across the free and ticketed public programme.
The Gallery Educator will work core teaching hours of 10am – 3pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday (inclusive of breaks) to ensure an even provision across the week. They will also develop supplementary content and resources for EYFS, primary and secondary school pupils and their teachers, and will work across National Gallery departments to develop and deliver content for National Gallery Members and our social media channels. Although they will work across audiences and programmes, the nature of this appointment means that they will predominately work with schools and families.
