About Mimosa House

Mimosa House, founded in 2017, is an arts organization dedicated to addressing the lack of diversity in the arts in the UK and globally. The organization, located in a multi-floor venue in Holborn, central London, produces three to four exhibitions annually and hosts numerous events. Mimosa House focuses on amplifying the voices of women and queer people, especially those of color, and explores their intersecting identities.

Position Description: Gallery Manager

The Gallery Manager will oversee the delivery of exhibitions and public programs at Mimosa House. This role involves managing production areas, assisting with daily operations, and supporting communications, administrative tasks, and fundraising activities. The Gallery Manager reports to the Founding Director/Curator and the Deputy Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

Production

  • Lead the logistical production of exhibitions, including arranging artist loans, negotiating agreements, and coordinating shipments.
  • Maintain strong relationships with artists, curators, partner institutions, and other associates.
  • Manage project budgets, maintain financial records, and ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Supervise technicians and freelancers to ensure timely delivery of exhibitions and event logistics.

Communications & Fundraising

  • Assist in writing and submitting fundraising applications for specific projects.
  • Manage social media content, website updates, and communications.
  • Help in developing exhibition descriptions and other interpretive materials.

Other Responsibilities

  • Promote Mimosa House’s activities, handle invigilation duties, and perform additional tasks as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in organizing public exhibitions or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets and design software.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for contemporary art and alignment with Mimosa House’s mission.

Employment Terms

  • Full-time position with a £28,000 annual salary.
  • Work hours: Monday-Friday, 10 am to 6 pm, with occasional weekends.
  • Location: On-site at Mimosa House, London.
  • Benefits include 28 days of annual leave.
