Position Title Head Curator

SCAD seeks a Head Curator to create compelling modern and contemporary art and design exhibitions at SCAD locations in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia; Hong Kong; Lacoste, France; and off-site locations. These exhibitions are expected to garner press coverage, recognition for SCAD artists, and promote SCAD both nationally and internationally.

In this role, you will lead the curatorial team in conceptualizing exhibitions with visiting artists, SCAD artists and using the permanent collection. You will work collaboratively with other departments of the institution to maximize the outreach and impact of the exhibition program.

The ideal candidate must have extensive knowledge of standard museum curatorial practices, exhibition development and logistics. You also have an outstanding national and international exhibition and publication history, management and supervisory experience, and excellent skills in research, writing and communication. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with other institutions, donors, and collectors is essential. Additionally, you have in-depth knowledge of fashion and design, modern and contemporary art and will organize collection-based and loan exhibitions as well as liaising with curators.

Requirements
– Master’s degree in art history required, Ph.D. preferred
– Eight to ten years of related experience, training, or equivalent combination
