Head, Exhibitions Design
The Head, Exhibitions Design should possess a finely tuned sensitivity to the creation and extension of the aesthetic experience in exhibition-making and design production. The incumbent will work jointly with the museum curators and exhibitions team, to develop, execute and maintain high standards in the aesthetic aspects of exhibition-making.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and actualize exhibition presentation and related aesthetic production
- Plan, manage and orchestrate the entire work flow for exhibition design and production (be it for permanent galleries, changing exhibitions or temporary site specific installations)
- Coordinate and facilitate the aesthetic aspects of exhibition-making related to marketing, merchandising, education and public programmes
- Oversee and execute other logistical and administrative aspects such as:
- Preparing the exhibition design proposal (i.e., 3d walk-through, visualizations, marquette, etc), and execution schedule with relevant curators and external suppliers and services
- Monitoring and maintaining the overall design and execution process and work schedule
- Overseeing exhibition design and fabrication
- Working with relevant the exhibitions team on artwork management services and design installation
- Working with relevant exhibitions team on exhibition lighting and audio-visual requirements
- Monitoring and assessing performance of external exhibition-related vendors
- Respond to feedback for exhibitions (aesthetic aspects)
- Any other aspects of exhibition work relating to overall presentation
- Mentor and supervise junior colleagues/external service providers in the planning and execution of exhibitions and exhibition-related products
- Handle ad-hoc assignments related to aesthetic requirements as and when required
Job Requirements
- Candidate should have a good bachelor’s degree, with at least 5-10 years of experience in the field of visual art
- Ability to read technical drawings (such as mechanical and electrical, audio visual and information technology works) and experience in managing contractors and consultants will be advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Ability to lead others as well as work as a team
- Ability to pay attention to detail and handle paperwork efficiently
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Keen interest in the arts, heritage and museum field
