Role Overview

The Head of Arts in Ukraine is responsible for strategic planning and executing a diverse range of Arts and Creative Industries programs funded by the British Council and other partners. This role includes overseeing activities in Ukraine through four global Arts programs: Culture Connects, Spotlights on Culture, Creative Economy, and Culture Responds to Global Challenges.

Key Responsibilities

Sector/Subject Expertise

  • Utilize expertise in Ukraine’s arts and creative industries to develop arts programs.
  • Represent the British Council as an authority in Arts and creative industries.
  • Identify opportunities for UK Arts sector collaboration in Ukraine.
  • Support team development in sector knowledge and skills.

Leadership & Management

  • Ensure program activities align with sector needs in Ukraine.
  • Manage quality, impact, and risks of program grants and contracts.
  • Incorporate equality, diversity, and inclusion in program delivery.
  • Ensure effective financial management and compliance.

Strategy and Planning

  • Lead planning for Ukraine’s arts portfolio within Wider Europe.
  • Contribute to regional business strategy.
  • Foster internal relationships for strategic alignment.

Relationship & Stakeholders

  • Build partner relationships to identify new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Maintain a network of creative and cultural sector representatives.
  • Represent and communicate about regional and global Arts programs.

Brand and Market Positioning

  • Promote UK arts and creative industries in Ukraine.
  • Communicate the British Council’s value proposition.

Business Development

  • Contribute to partnership development aligned with priorities.

Programme Management

  • Lead portfolio planning and ensure program activities meet Ukraine’s specific needs.
  • Oversee financial management and compliance of the arts portfolio.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Expertise in arts and creative industries in Ukraine.
  • Experience in managing national and international arts projects.
  • Understanding of arts trends in the UK.
