As a nationally and internationally renowned institution, the Museum Center Quadrat is firmly part of the identity of the city of Bottrop. The Josef Albers Museum preserves the world’s most extensive Josef Albers collection and researches, documents, contextualizes and conveys the artist’s oeuvre in exhibitions and publications since its foundation in 1976, whose life began as the son of a family of craftsmen in the northern Ruhr area and ended a few miles north of New York as an internationally celebrated artist. In addition to this focus, the museum shows works by international artists in solo and group exhibitions and houses a collection with works by, among others. Günter Fruhtrunk, Bernhard Fuchs, Raimund Girke, Hubert Kiecol, Aurelie Nemours, Simone Nieweg and Bridget Riley.
In 2022, the architecturally high-quality museum located in the Stadtgarten was expanded for the third time and in the same year the house was given a new director. In the course of the associated innovations, a collection management and curator are sought. The area of responsibility essentially comprises the following activities:
- scientific processing, maintenance and further development of the art collection, including loan transactions, restoration projects, storage, inventory, documentation, online collection,
- Conception and implementation of permanent and temporary exhibitions, collection presentations and other projects, with publications and supporting programs, including acquisition of funding,
- Supporting public relations and cultural education programs as well
- Representation of the Josef Albers Museum as part of the Museum Center Square in the city society, to visitors and within the scientific community, on behalf of the museum management.
Your professional and personal profile:
- completed academic university degree ( diploma / master / master ) in art history, art science or a comparable subject,
- Professional experience in museum work with a focus on modern and contemporary art, especially collection maintenance and exhibition conception and implementation,
- Interest in current international discourses and developments in museum operations,
- high reliability, communication skills, teamwork, initiative, flexibility and willingness to perform as well as a result-oriented and organized way of working,
- Experience in third-party fund acquisition and in administrative and organizational processes,
- safe appearance indoors and outdoors, experience in public relations as well
- safe handling of MuseumPlus and MS Office and mastery of the English language.
