An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Design Museum with the recruitment of a Head of Curatorial and Interpretation. This is a new role to manage the curatorial team, and to support the Chief Curator in shaping and delivering the forthcoming exhibitions programme.
Working at the world’s leading museum dedicated to contemporary design and architecture, the Head of Curatorial and Interpretation will manage the curatorial team, and develop and deliver audience-focused and critically acclaimed temporary exhibitions and displays. They will be responsible for exhibition interpretation, ensuring the museum’s voice is accessible to a large and diverse audience and bringing in new forms of engagement. The Head of Curatorial and Interpretation will support the research and development of exhibition proposals for the future programme.
This role will suit a dynamic, confident and organised individual with solid experience in managing teams, interpretation and curation, and with proven writing and editing skills. The candidate will be an excellent communicator, acting as an ambassador for the museum. A natural storyteller, who can create compelling and ground-breaking narratives and experiences, they will help build a programme that supports the museum’s mission, vision, purpose and values.
