The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) is seeking a Head of Exhibition Projects to join its team. This senior-level technical position (Group A, Subgroup A1) is a permanent role responsible for managing the planning, coordination, and execution of assigned exhibitions, including supervision of exhibition teams, budget control, scheduling, and fostering national and international relationships. The selected candidate will report directly to the Head of Service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire process of planning and executing exhibitions, supporting exhibition coordinators and collaborating closely with the Head of Service.
- Collaborate on the conceptual development of each exhibition, coordinating both internal and external teams and maintaining relationships with involved institutions.
- Draft and manage the annual budget for the exhibitions service, ensuring financial control and adherence to deadlines.
- Lead and manage national and international partnerships related to exhibition projects, including coordinating exhibition tours.
- Supervise the preparation and implementation of exhibitions, ensuring adherence to project timelines, technical needs, and curatorial requirements.
- Coordinate and negotiate contracts and agreements with external partners, suppliers, and institutions.
- Oversee the selection and management of involved professionals (e.g., curators, advisors, designers), determining fees, and leading contract negotiations.
- Provide final approval on exhibition design, graphics, and installation-related decisions.
- Maintain direct contact with curators, artists, designers, architects, and other stakeholders involved in exhibitions.
- Manage the project calendar, monitor progress, and resolve any issues that arise during the exhibition development process.
- Ensure detailed budget tracking for each exhibition, providing updates and financial reports as required.
- Lead internal and external communication regarding the exhibitions and represent the CCCB in strategic meetings and partnerships.
Requirements:
- Must be a career civil servant or permanent staff of the Diputación of Barcelona or the Ayuntamiento of Barcelona, or permanent staff of the CCCB.
- Relevant university degree in social sciences, humanities, or experimental sciences.
- Minimum two years of experience in a similar role with exhibition project management responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Catalan at C1 level.
- Demonstrated ability in managing exhibition budgets, coordinating with internal and external teams, and leading projects within a cultural institution.
