The RWA, Bristol, is seeking an experienced exhibitions professional to join our small, friendly and dedicated team, using our outstanding exhibition spaces and newly transformed facilities to deliver a distinctive, stimulating and sustainable artistic programme. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the post-holder will contribute to the delivery and ongoing review of our Business Plan, working with the Director to deliver the RWA’s artistic programme against its objectives and targets.
Reporting to the Board’s Programme Committee and advised by our Exhibitions Committee, the Head of Exhibitions will lead the delivery of exhibitions both throughout the RWA and elsewhere, encompassing both contemporary and historic visual art, and ranging from commissioning emerging artists to managing GIS loans. They will work with our Academicians, external curators, museums and galleries and private collectors to manage the delivery of exhibitions that are international in scope while engaging with the remarkable history and cultural vibrancy of the RWA and the south west region, ensuring that shows are accessible and relevant to our wide audience.
The Head of Exhibitions will oversee the delivery of the RWA’s ongoing vision and strategy for exhibitions, including the development of touring exhibitions. They will also lead on the management and use of the RWA’s permanent collection, including supporting curation training at all levels.
