Position Overview The Head of Programme role at Site Gallery is a pivotal senior management position, collaboratively driving the creative vision alongside the Chief Executive. As a dynamic exhibition curator, the role extends beyond curation to encompass strategic leadership and development. The primary responsibilities include overseeing all facets of gallery programming, fostering new approaches, cultivating partnerships, and enhancing Site’s brand.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Artistic Programme Leadership
- Lead the programme team in crafting a comprehensive, year-round artistic agenda, spanning exhibitions, engagement, and participation.
- Research and formulate proposals for exhibitions aligned with local interests, fostering creativity and attracting partnerships.
- Resource Generation
- Generate resources for the artistic programme through strategic fundraising, collaboration, and partnerships.
- Identify potential funders and partners, developing proposals to secure funding and resources.
- Connectivity and Best Practices
- Cultivate connectivity within the contemporary visual art sector, ensuring the integration of best practices and innovation.
- Engage in audience development planning, contributing to marketing, press, and online content.
- Equitable Opportunities and Artist Support
- Create accessible opportunities for artists, focusing on best practices in commissioning, residencies, and professional development.
- Provide specialized support to artists, maximizing opportunities for impactful experiences.
- Financial Management and Evaluation
- Carefully manage budgets, ensuring accuracy and realism.
- Evaluate program activities through various methodologies to inform future programming.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with artists, peers, funders, and stakeholders.
- Represent Site Gallery at meetings and events, advocating for its presence in local, national, and international networks.
- Leadership and Strategic Development
- Provide inspired leadership to the programme team, supporting talent development and setting clear organizational expectations.
- Collaborate with the Chief Executive and senior management to shape Site’s business, strategic plans, and policy implementation.
- Board Engagement
- Attend Board meetings, presenting and briefing on artistic programs for informed decision-making.
- Advocate for Site Gallery’s charitable objectives.
