Salary: £44,925 – £49,417
Reports to: Director
Supervises: Programme Manager, Production Manager, Curator of Learning

Liverpool Biennial is seeking a Head of Programme & Partnerships (Maternity Cover) to lead the delivery of its 2026 programme and contribute strategically to the development of LB2027. This senior role combines curatorial vision with operational leadership, overseeing staff, partnerships, fundraising efforts, and the implementation of artistic and engagement projects aligned with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the 2026 programme while shaping LB2027 with the Director and Guest Curator(s).
  • Cultivate and manage national and international partnerships and co-commissioners.
  • Lead on curatorial planning and strategic alignment with organisational values, EDI, and sustainability.
  • Support fundraising efforts through project descriptions, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Supervise staff recruitment, budget management, project delivery, and organisational evaluation.
  • Represent Liverpool Biennial at key local and international events.
  • Act as Safeguarding Lead and ensure health and safety protocols are met across all activities.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Minimum 6 years in arts project management, including 3+ years in a strategic role in a publicly funded arts organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of the contemporary visual arts sector and Liverpool Biennial.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills.
  • Budget management experience (six figures), with advanced coordination and leadership capabilities.
  • Commitment to EDI, environmental sustainability, and safeguarding practices.

Desirable:

  • Working in an international environment
  • Experience of Safeguarding procedures and knowledge of up-to-date legislation
