Head of Projects – Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco, USA

Institution: Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF)
Location: San Francisco, USA
Contract: Full-time or contractor position
Schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends
Salary: $80,000–$110,000 (commensurate with experience)

The Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco seeks a Head of Projects to lead planning, implementation, and coordination of exhibitions, partnerships, and programs. The role requires strong project management skills, collaboration with artists and teams, and a passion for contemporary art and civic engagement.

Responsibilities

Plan and execute all artist and exhibition projects from concept to completion
Manage vendors, partnerships, budgets, and contracts
Collaborate with communications teams on exhibition marketing
Oversee installation logistics and permitting
Maintain relationships with artists, partners, and cultural institutions

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in project or exhibition management
Proven record delivering ambitious art projects
Budget management and leadership experience
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Google Suite; familiarity with Asana, SketchUp, CAD, Photoshop is a plus
Strong interest in contemporary art and community-building
