Grants Open Call
Applications are now open for the latest Grants Open Call. Apply by 19 July 2024.
Overview
The Inclusive Practices Fund supports organizations in reimagining engagement and education. It aims to foster belonging and connection between young people in primary and secondary school, their teachers, and visual arts spaces.
In 2024, the Runnymede Trust and Freelands Foundation published “Visualise: Race and Inclusion in Secondary Education” to address racial inequality in visual art education. The report highlighted the ‘creativity crisis’ in art education, its disproportionate impact on minority ethnic students, and a curriculum that fails to represent them. It also noted the potential for visual art organizations to create more inclusive and empowering art education offerings.
Fund Aims
The fund seeks bold and diverse approaches to art education initiatives. These initiatives should meet the needs of all young people, with a focus on the representation of work by minority ethnic artists and the norms of engagement that impact young people’s experience and comfort.
Investigating Engagement
Art education should be relevant and empowering, embracing diverse artists and works that reflect young people’s lived experiences. The fund supports innovative forms and methods of engaging young people in visual art education.
Nurturing Belonging
Traditional visual art environments can be challenging and intimidating. The fund supports projects that work with communities and artists to create inclusive spaces that embrace curiosity and practice care.
