Programme Overview
The Unschool of Curating (formerly the Autumn School of Curating) returns for its 7th edition under the guidance of internationally acclaimed curator Raimundas Malašauskas. Taking place across Cluj and Timișoara, this eight-day intensive seminar explores curatorial practice through informal methodologies and alternative pedagogies, focusing on the theme “The Art of Chaos.”
The course investigates the generative and disruptive nature of chaos—from its poetic and mathematical roots to its implications in exhibition-making and curatorial care. Participants will be immersed in local art contexts while engaging in lectures, workshops, site visits, and public events.
Programme Structure
- 3 days in Cluj, 3 days in Timișoara (plus travel and arrival days)
- Lectures and working sessions with Raimundas Malašauskas
- Guest speaker presentations and workshops
- Visits to local galleries and exhibitions
- Two public events: a lecture in Cluj and a group conversation in Timișoara
Covered by the Programme
- Accommodation in shared rooms (3 nights in Cluj, 4 nights in Timișoara)

Who Can Apply
Emerging curators in contemporary art with at least 3 years of professional experience. The programme is open to international participants, with strong encouragement for applicants from Romania and the wider region.
