Based in the MFA’s Exhibitions department, the Traveling Exhibitions program shares the Museum’s deep collections and curatorial expertise with audiences around the globe. Ranging in subject from ancient to contemporary, MFA traveling exhibitions travel to partner institutions domestically and internationally. In the last decade alone, our traveling exhibitions have reached more than 15 million visitors worldwide, as many as visited the MFA in Boston in the same period.
Mentored by the Director of Collections Partnership, the Traveling Exhibitions Intern will gain an understanding of the planning, marketing, collaboration, coordination, production, and documentation of traveling exhibitions from exhibition proposal to venue opening. The Traveling Exhibitions Intern will observe and contribute to projects with collaborators across the Museum and with partner institutions around the globe.
The intern must commit to 14 hours per week (within the 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri parameters) from Sept 15 through Dec 8, and including two hours on Fridays to participate in the Museum Pathways & Practices professional development course.
The intern will be paid at a rate of $16.00 per hour.
As we amplify our efforts toward becoming a truly inclusive institution, ensuring that diversity, equity, and access are lived values, we actively encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to apply to the program.
