Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) invites applications for its International Creator Residency Program 2027, offering artists, designers, and architects the opportunity to develop new work while based in Tokyo. The program supports research-driven practices and encourages exchange with an international cohort of residents, culminating in a public presentation at the OPEN STUDIO.
Programme Details
- 3-month residency in Tokyo
- Available periods:
- May – July 2027
- September – November 2027
- January – March 2028
- Accommodation (single room) provided
- Shared studio access
- Round-trip airfare covered
- Daily allowance: JPY 4,200
- Project fee: JPY 300,000
- Up to 6 participants (2 per period)
- Open to individual applicants and duos
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Reside outside Japan
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience
- Work in visual arts, design, or architecture
- Demonstrate sufficient English proficiency
- Be able to work and live independently
Additional notes:
- PhD candidates are eligible; other students are not
- Duo applications are accepted (with specific conditions)
