The Kunstmuseum Basel, home to the world’s oldest public art collection and one of the largest museums in Switzerland, is offering a one-year paid internship in its Department of Programmes, Education & Mediation. The role provides broad experience in public engagement, project coordination, and cultural education.
Responsibilities
- Support in organising and coordinating educational programmes, workshops, and events such as Family Day, Museum Night, and exhibition-related activities.
- Assist with public relations, draft and edit texts, and liaise with external partners (e.g. photographers).
- Maintain databases and archives (Picture Park, Museum Plus) with project materials and documentation.
- Carry out administrative tasks, manage infrastructure, and act as a link between departments, partners, and stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Completed university degree in Art Education, Curatorial Studies, Fine Arts, Art History, or equivalent.
- Practical experience in project management and event organisation.
- Strong organisational skills, independence, accuracy, and reliability.
- Proactive, team-oriented, with quick comprehension and a strong interest in cultural mediation and strategy.
- English knowledge is an advantage.
