About the Role
The Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam is seeking an intern for the Curatorial & Research Department to work with the Industrial Design collection. The Design collections make up more than half of the museum’s collection of over 100,000 objects, dating from approximately 1850 to the present. The department consists of 12.5 FTE across two disciplines: Curators (exhibitions and collection management) and Research & Curatorial Practice. This internship offers a varied and challenging opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a world-renowned museum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research for inventory verification of the Industrial Design collection
- Conduct research for potential acquisitions and external inquiries
- Assist in the preparation of exhibitions (including concept development), collection presentations, and other projects
Requirements:
- Enrolled in a (university) bachelor’s or master’s programme in Art History, Design Cultures, or a related field
- Proficiency with all Office programmes (knowledge of collection management systems such as Adlib or Axiell is a plus)
- Experience with SketchUp and design programmes is also a plus
- Experience with research
- Strong organisational skills
- Social, curious, and able to work independently
- Meticulous and precise
- Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written)
