Japan Grants
Overview
The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) offers grants to support activities that promote, introduce, and deepen understanding of Japan, its language, and culture. These grants also support projects encouraging multilateral cultural exchange between Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, and Japan.
Focus Areas
One of the key streams focuses on projects related to Japanese Arts and Cultural Exchange. This includes inviting Japanese artists to conduct culture-related projects such as performances, art exhibitions, artist-in-residence programs, and film screenings. Projects that relate to Japanese art or works are also eligible.
Grant Details
- Grant Amount: Up to 15,000 MYR
- Eligible Costs:
- Honorarium/artist fees for artists and lecturers (including interpreter and translator fees)
- Per diem allowances covering daily food, minor transportation, and telecommunication costs
- Major transportation costs, including international and domestic flights, and hired transport
- Freight costs
- Accommodation expenses
- Rental fees for venues and equipment
- Publicity or public relations expenses
- Fees for visa and permit applications
- Purchase of teaching/learning materials
- Other costs as agreed by JFKL

Project Types
- Physical and Online Projects: Applications must be submitted three months before the event.
- Online-Only Projects: Applications must be submitted one month before the event.
