Job Summary
The Toledo Museum of Art is looking for a motivated individual for a three-year fellowship. The role supports the Art Bridges Collection Loan Partnership. It offers experience in collection management, registration, and curatorial work. This includes art handling, condition reporting, packing, shipping, installation, research, cataloging, data entry, and more. The Fellow will work on the museum’s campus-wide reimagining project, collaborating across multiple departments. The Art Bridges Fellows Program focuses on cultivating diverse museum leadership and establishing career paths in the arts.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist with loan preparation and travel for the Art Bridges Collection Loan Partnership.
- Conduct research and create inclusive, accessible interpretative materials.
- Serve as a liaison with Art Bridges staff.
- Support deinstallation and reinstallation of the collection.
- Help with annual storage inventory and cataloging.
- Assist in drafting gallery or loan didactics.
- Contribute to budget planning and tracking.
- Commit to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion principles.
- Attend Art Bridges convenings in Bentonville, Arkansas.
- Develop a professional network through conferences and symposia.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, history, museum studies, or a related field.
- One-to-two years’ related experience in a museum preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic office functions.
- Familiarity with The Museum System (TMS) or a similar database preferred.
Work Environment
This role involves collaboration across departments and frequent communication with the public, staff, and museum members. It requires regular office work and occasional event attendance, including overnight travel.

The Art Bridges Collection represents a diverse range of American art from the 19th century to the present day.

This initiative focuses on making American art more accessible by lending out museum collections. It aims to increase the representation of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and women artists in museum galleries.
