The exhibition centre of the City of Vienna for international contemporary art, KUNSTHALLE WIEN GmbH is searching for a Co-Director
responsible for the artistic domain, to be designated for a term of five years.
The objective of KUNSTHALLE WIEN is to act as the interface between classical modern art and futuristic visions of art.
The candidate will develop the independent profile of KUNSTHALLE WIEN within precise budgetary limits, determine goals and develop strategies in collaboration with the administrative Co-Director, co-ordinate the working team and act as an intermediary between political representatives, sponsors, members, other exhibition centres, and the art scene in general.
The candidate has ample experience with conceptual planning and implementation of exhibitions, is part of an international network and can provide proof of curatorial achievements with publications, reviews or awards. She/He has profound knowledge of contemporary art, the ability to detect new developments early on, thus bringing the qualifications to successfully manage KUNSTHALLE WIEN.
MAIN TASKS
- Overall responsibility for the artistic concerns of the institute
- Strategic planning in collaboration with the administrative co-director
- Design of an internationally sophisticated exhibition schedule, including related events of international contemporary art
- Global expansion of the network and partnerships with other institutions
- Staying in touch with the art scene, sponsors and partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree or proof of comparable qualification
- Profound knowledge of international contemporary art
- High acceptance within the international exhibition community
- Several years of experience with conception and implementation of comparable exhibitions
- Negotiation confidence and writing proficiency in German and English
- Communicative and integrative confidence
