La Nueva Fábrica 2023 Residency Open Call
Deadline: April 1, 2023 at 6pm (Guatemala time)
La Nueva Fábrica is a contemporary art space and residency program in Antigua, Guatemala dedicated to empowering communities through art. La Nueva Fábrica presents exhibitions and offers residencies, public programs, education and multidisciplinary workshops, while also holding a permanent collection of historic Latin American photography and the artworks of the late Guatemalan artist Lissie Habie (1954-2008)—whose philanthropic endeavors through New Roots Foundation (est. 1998) eventually led to the creation of the residency program (est. 2013) and La Nueva Fábrica (est. 2018).
La Nueva Fábrica is pleased to announce its 2023 – 2024 Residency cycle, which offers 5 residencies to local and international applicants.
The program welcomes emerging and established artists, curators, and cultural practitioners to reflect, research, dialogue, create and share across disciplines, while engaging with the unique context of Guatemala.
Residents will be selected by a panel of independent jurors composed of three prominent curators whose practice deeply engages with Central America: Elena Ketelsen González, Daniela Morales Lisec, and Pablo José Ramírez.
Selected residents will receive a stipend, housing, and a private studio, as well as the opportunity to travel in the region surrounding La Nueva Fábrica to engage with its diverse artistic and cultural communities.
