Job Overview

The Learning Assistant supports the Learning team to create interdisciplinary learning experiences at the Jameel Arts Centre in Dubai. The position involves organizing and leading tours for schools, universities, and adult groups. The role includes creating lesson plans and activities that integrate permanent collection works and temporary exhibitions, leading guided discussions, and supporting major events such as seasonal camps for children, Ramadan Nights, Creative Careers Days, and Down to Earth.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Artist, creative, or educational professional with experience in learning programming
  • Proficient in English (Arabic is desirable)
  • UAE-based

Accountability

Reports to: Learning Manager

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create engaging, interdisciplinary learning programs for all ages, focusing on children and young people.
  • Lead guided, on-site educational programming, including school field trips and university visits.
  • Develop bi-monthly workshops, monthly drop-in zones for children, and organize special tours and workshops for visiting students.
  • Collaborate with the Visitor Experience, Design, Events, Operations, and Communications teams at Jameel Arts Centre.
  • Assist in the development of Spring Camp, Ramadan Nights, Creative Careers Days, and the Down to Earth festival.
  • Oversee special learning events on-site.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to events.
  • Facilitate after-school clubs, adult workshops/masterclasses, and seasonal camps.
  • Manage the learning team’s storage, inventory, and purchasing needs.
  • Develop and deliver the monthly Family Saturdays at Jameel program.
  • Monitor the Learning email account and respond to enquiries.
  • Coordinate programming for special needs participants and audiences.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar role at a museum, educational, or creative institution.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Team spirit, enthusiastic and professional attitude.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent thinking and creativity, open to collaborative input and feedback.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to consider the bigger picture.

Conditions of Work

  • Occasional weekend and evening work as required.
