LUX LVA50 Curatorial Fellowship 2026

LUX is seeking a creative and committed Curatorial Fellow to research, curate and deliver a major public programme marking the 50th anniversary of London Video Arts (LVA). The Fellowship will encompass devising and delivering a touring screening programme developed with partner venues across the UK, a programme of events at LUX, and new written content exploring LVA’s history and legacy.

About the fellowship

Working with LUX staff and project partners, the Fellow will help expand understanding of LVA’s contribution to artists’ moving image, connecting this history with contemporary practice and new audiences.

LVA50 presents an opportunity to shape how this important legacy is understood today while developing your own curatorial practice, research and professional networks. The Fellow will receive mentoring and professional development support from LUX staff and project partners throughout the programme, alongside access to LUX’s extensive national and international networks. We encourage applicants to bring fresh perspectives and bold ideas that build on, challenge and expand existing conversations around artists’ moving image practice.

The LVA50 Curatorial Fellow will research, curate and project manage an onsite events programme at LUX, alongside a touring screening programme and associated discussions developed in collaboration with partner venues, to mark the 50th anniversary of London Video Arts. The role encompasses producing and co-ordinating new written content responding to London Video Arts, and working closely with the LUX Director, Distribution Director, Collection Manager, and Programme & Communications Manager to ensure the programme connects with audiences locally, nationally and internationally. The Fellow will receive mentoring and professional development support from LUX staff and venue partners throughout the programme.

LVA50 is a 12 month programme of activity developed in partnership with Moving Image Review & Art Journal (MIRAJ), the University of Westminster’s Centre for Research and Education in Arts and Media (CREAM) and a network of UK venues including Spike Island (Bristol), Ambika P3 (London), BALTIC (Gateshead), g39 (Cardiff), LUX Scotland (Glasgow) and Vivid Projects (Birmingham). LVA50 is supported by BFI Screen Heritage Fund, awarding National Lottery funding.
