Position works closely with Foster Chair and Curator and invited artists to execute curatorial vision, create dynamic exhibitions of contemporary art including public art events. Coordinates and installs select “Art on Campus” exhibitions such as 14th floor Ansin exhibit, One Emerson projection, murals and other campus installations (i.e. Farber Collection) as needed. Provides technical and exhibition support for all MA, MFA, BFA, and Faculty exhibitions in Huret & Spector and Media Art Galleries

Purpose of Position:

The Manager of Exhibitions works closely with Foster Chair and Curator and invited artists to execute curatorial vision, create dynamic exhibitions of contemporary art including public art events. Coordinates and install select “Art on Campus” exhibitions such as 14th floor Ansin exhibit, One Emerson projection, murals and other campus installations (i.e. Farber Collection) as needed. Provides technical and exhibition support for all MA, MFA, BFA, and Faculty exhibitions in Huret & Spector and Media Art Galleries

Key Responsibilities:
Exhibitions Support­­­

  • Position works closely with Foster Chair and Curator and invited artists to execute curatorial vision, create dynamic exhibitions of contemporary art including public art events.
  • Coordinates and install select “Art on Campus” exhibitions such as 14th floor Ansin exhibit, One Emerson projection, murals and other campus installations (i.e. Farber Collection) as needed.
  • Provides technical and exhibition support for all MA, MFA, BFA, and Faculty exhibitions in Huret & Spector and Media Art Galleries
  • Manages all exhibitions installations and strikes, including ordering supplies, creating work schedule, ensuring new media technologies are set up and maintained throughout the exhibition.
  • Designs exhibition marketing materials such as posters, advertising, postcards including generating images for social media, digital advertising and the website
  • Supports public programming and events logistics including access, space set up, and documentation
  • Digitally archives all exhibitions including the generation and editing of video and photo documentation
  • Manages receiving and shipping of all gallery deliverables including works of art
  • Arranges for gallery maintenance and repair physical space and equipment
  • Supports technology needs of the exhibitions and related programming including management of equipment inventory and securing new equipment as needed.
  • Manages event bookings and space “rentals” (w/Business Services) for the space utilization of Huret & Spector and Media Art Galleries
  • Advises faculty and student exhibitors and campus users of the galleries on procedures for utilization
  • Hires and monitors strike crews and hours of installation
  • Other duties as assigned

​Other Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Student Staffing
  • Hires, trains and supervises student gallery monitors
  • Arranges staffing of gallery for receptions and special events
    Budget
  • Coordinates with Foster Chair and Curator on all purchasing and payment needs
  • Maintaining the internal gallery budget ledger
  • Submitting gallery and artist related expenses to workday

Qualifications:
Work Experience: 5 years + Experience in complex project management, exhibition design, professional art installation. Experience supervising staff and budget management

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge and recent experience using Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google suite, and Adobe Design suite,
    Strong clerical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills needed to work with a range of stakeholders including guest curators, artists, college faculty, staff, and students.
  • Proficiency in working with and setting up technical equipment including but not limited to: networked projectors, computers, bright signs, video and VR equipment, monitors
  • Expertise in video documentation, video editing, digital file preparation
  • Skilled in using power tools, basic construction, wall repair and painting.

  • Flexibility in meeting shifting demands and priorities.
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects in a highly demanding and fast-paced work environment and with limited supervision.
  • A desire to function in a team and in a service-oriented environment.
  • You’ll be preferred if you have:
  • Experience setting up large scale public projection art events
    Driver’s license
  • Comfortable using a scissor lift

Work Environment:

  • Dynamic, physically active, frequent changes from sitting to standing, walking across campus locations
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Grade of Position: A16E
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 30.00
  • Hiring Range: $51,806.88 – $54,289.64
  • This position will be exclusively represented by the Service
  • Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
