Permanent Managing Director
Start Date: October 2024 (or as agreed)
Location: Helsinki, Finland
The Managing Director of Bioart Society will lead a respected international association, working with practitioners from arts and science, contemporary art, science and technology, and environmental humanities. This role offers a unique perspective on the international art world.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the Society’s long-term goals.
- Stabilize activities at SOLU Space, plan new international projects, and strengthen finances.
- Collaborate with the Artistic Director to align operations with artistic vision.
- Build and maintain local, national, and international partnerships.
Required Attributes and Experience
Essential:
- Passion for contemporary art practice, particularly arts & science.
- Experience in arts management, including fundraising, budgeting, financial management, and reporting.
- Leadership experience, with a track record of managing teams.
- Skills in art or event production.
- Team-oriented, with a hands-on approach.
- Strong partnership-building abilities.
- Proficient in English and Finnish and/or Swedish.
Desirable:
- Experience with Nordic and EU funding programs.
- Knowledge of the art & science field.
- High-level funding bid experience.
- HR experience.
- Technical and practical production understanding.
Compensation and Benefits
- Employment Type: 80% (4 full days) with an option to start at 40% for the first two months.
- Start Date: Earliest October 2024.
- Working Hours: Flexible, including occasional evening and weekend work.
- Travel: Occasional business trips.
- Salary: 2900 euros gross monthly (based on a full-time gross salary of 3625 euros per month).
- Probationary Period: 3 months.
- Location: Helsinki.

Interviews: Selected candidates will be notified by 30th August 2024. Interviews will take place in September 2024, either in Helsinki or via Zoom.
