Walker

The Department Coordinator provides a wide range of administrative and production support for the Moving Image department activities. This individual will help to coordinate office work flow and projects; assist with marketing and outreach efforts by creating and managing digital assets; coordinate technical and production details for MI programs and events; accurately maintain files and databases; prepare correspondence, reports and other documents; and more generally attend to the day to day administrative tasks of the department.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative and clerical support for department; respond to general department correspondence; maintain files; reconcile credit cards; schedule meetings.
  2. Assist in the coordination and execution of marketing and community outreach efforts and initiatives primarily through collecting, creating, and managing the various digital assets used for the department’s activities.  These include editing trailers, creating slideshows, digital signage assets, preparing files for Mediatheque or online screenings, etc.
  3. Act as liaison for artists’ technical needs and production details with the relevant departments.
  4. Provide curatorial assistance in the research, planning, and organization of programs.
  5. Arrange and coordinate artists’ visits including travel and accommodations, creating itineraries, hospitality and local transportation as needed and coordinates portrait with Walker Photographer.
  6. Coordinate shipping both incoming and outgoing, including preparing proper customs documentation for international shipments.
  7. Support Assistant Curator and Archivist with archive and collection projects.
  8. Assists the Department Program Manager with the logistics of partnerships between the Walker and community partners.
  9. Ensure Moving Image programs and events are coordinated with other departments and included within Walker building schedule database; attend institutional scheduling meetings, as required.
  10. Prepare and submit completed program files to Walker Archives.
  11. Support Visitor Services Specialist to ensure efficient front-of-house processes, box office and patron services.
  12. Collaborate with other department coordinators to ensure the effective and consistent processes and communication between Walker departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent computer and office skills;
  • Working knowledge of audio/visual editing or design software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of moving image and media arts field preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift 60 lbs on occasion.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

  • Full-time (35 hours), Hourly Non-Exempt, $40-45,000 annually,  flexibility to work some evenings and weekends required.

This position is covered by the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME) labor contract.
