Moving Narratives Mentorship Program

About Moving Narratives

The Moving Narratives program, supported by the Prince Claus Fund and the British Council, promotes creative practices that strive for equitable and just futures. It invites artists and cultural practitioners to challenge contemporary narratives and recenter marginalized histories.

Call for Applications: Cycle 2

Artists and cultural practitioners are invited to apply for Cycle 2 of Moving Narratives. This mentorship program supports creative practices that reconsider historical legacies and explore emancipatory movements.

Importance of Creative Practices

Dominant discourses and one-sided worldviews shape society, politics, and individual lives, often excluding diverse experiences and perspectives. Creative practices can challenge the status quo and recentre marginalized narratives, helping to expand our understanding of the past and reimagine the future.

Program Structure

Each year, Moving Narratives brings together 12 mid-career artists and cultural practitioners. Participants work with mentors to develop artistic strategies addressing dominant narratives and the inequalities they sustain. The program includes workshops, reading groups, guest talks, and peer-to-peer review sessions, with most activities conducted online. The cohort meets twice in person for intensive mentoring sessions called Lab Weeks. Together, they create a joint project in the form of a printed publication and online platform.

Financial Support

Each participant receives an award of €10,000 to work on the proposed project outlined in their application. The grant supports the participant’s creative practice and informs sessions with mentors.
