
Museum Archivist Position at Te Ahu Museum, Kaitaia
Introduction
Working at Te Ahu Museum in Kaitaia, Aotearoa New Zealand, is a unique opportunity. We’re looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Museum Archivist in a part-time, 6-month fixed-term position.
The Challenge

Te Ahu Museum offers an exciting 20-hours-per-week opportunity for someone passionate about showcasing and connecting visitors with our museum’s collection. As the Museum Archivist, you will contribute to collection development, documentation, storage, and customer-focused collection access.
About You
Ideally, you have experience in the museum sector or are studying towards a Museum Studies diploma or degree. Knowledge of the Collection Management System (Vernon), collection cataloguing, and digital collections is highly desirable. Previous experience in packing and handling objects is a plus.
Familiarity with the history of the Te Hiku o Te Ika region and its communities, as well as some understanding of te reo, would be beneficial. However, we are looking for the right person to enhance the museum experience.
